Beech Class

Welcome to Beech Class! We are a class within the Investigators department, following the sensory and emerging pathways.  We follow a creative, Learning Challenge curriculum, based on fun and engaging themes. Each week focusses on a key question and as a class we investigate this, learning through play, developing our independence and our communication skills. In Beech class we develop our communication skills, through using Makaton, PODD and Intensive Interaction.

Pupils are learning early Literacy and Numeracy skills, with activities linked to their topic work. Our activities are child-initiated, with pupils having choices about what and how they learn, exploring their interests and meeting their needs. Pupils also engage in art, music, dance massage and drama sessions each week, allowing them to express themselves creatively. We enjoy developing our physical skills throughout the week in all of our activities, but we especially enjoy hydrotherapy, rebound therapy and Elements (a PE based activity). One of the highlights of our week is doing Forest School and exploring our natural environment.

We are a very social group, we have lots of fun together and enjoy being with each other.
